Trophy of EWVL Unveiled by Mayor Acharya in Pokhara

Pokhara Sports / Keshav Pathak / The trophy unveiling and tour event of the Everest Women’s Volleyball League (EWVL) was grandly held in Pokhara. On the eve of the league’s second edition, scheduled to take place from Bhadra 20 to 28 (September 5–13), the home team Pokhara Ninjas organized the trophy unveiling and tour program in Pokhara.

Mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan City, Dhanraj Acharya, unveiled the trophy and expressed confidence that the event would make a significant contribution to the development of volleyball and women’s empowerment in Pokhara.

Extending best wishes to his home team for victory, Mayor Acharya stated that such sports activities would help establish Pokhara as a city of sports. He also remarked, “Sports are not just for entertainment; they are also a means of identity, self-reliance, and social transformation.”

During the event, Mayor Acharya also welcomed the players of the participating teams representing Pokhara Ninjas. On this occasion, the Pokhara Ninjas team, along with the Mayor, conducted a trophy tour around Fewa Lake, including a circumambulation of the Barahi Temple.

Prominent participants in the event included Pokhara Ninjas team head Nitin Khandekar, volleyball association advisors Hari Prasad Parajuli and Narayan Prasad Sharma, Chairman of the Pokhara Tourism Council Taranath Pahari, and coordinator of Pokhara Visit Year 2025, Gopi Bahadur Bhattarai, among other tourism and sports enthusiasts.

For the second edition of the league being hosted outside the capital in Pokhara, the Pokhara Ninjas have presented Pragati Nath as their marquee player. Other team members include Poonam Chand, Mina Sunar, Sunita Khatri, Garima Bohora, Anjila Pradhan, Nisha Mahara, Bhawana Tamang, and Grishma Gurung.

Among the foreign players are Adiola Owokoniran, Lija Boban, and Anamaria Berdilă, as informed by the team’s Operations Head Vikas Khetan.

The team’s Head Coach is Rupesh Bista, with Santosh Shrestha as Assistant Coach. The team operations are handled by Vishal Khetan, with Priya Lama as the Physiotherapist and Sandhya Dhungana as the Media Manager.

The Pokhara Ninjas have chosen popular Nepali actress Sanisha Bhattarai as the Team Ambassador.

A total of six teams are participating in the Everest Women’s Volleyball League.
