Pokhara Sports/ The Vatsalya Everest Women’s Volleyball League (EWVL), Nepal’s first and only women’s volleyball franchise-based league, has officially added a new team—Pokhara Ninjas—as it gears up for its highly anticipated second edition.
According to a press release issued by Vserve Group on Tuesday, the newly formed team will represent Pokhara and compete in the upcoming season as part of the official EWVL calendar. Although owned by Vserve Group, the team will be temporarily managed by the league during its formal registration process with the Government of Nepal.
“Volleyball, recognized as the National game of Nepal, holds a special place in Gandaki Province’s sports culture. Pokhara, in particular, has consistently produced national-level volleyball talent, with matches regularly drawing enthusiastic local crowds.”
“Commercialization of Sports in Nepal is only possible through such leagues. Great to see private sector involvement in sports in Nepal. I am very pleased that I was part of the 1st ever historical auction for women’s volleyball held which has set the benchmark for the women sport in Nepal.”

The statement highlighted the significance of volleyball in the region: The launch of Pokhara Ninjas is in line with the league’s goal of fostering professional growth, expanding regional participation, and strengthening the national presence of the sport.
Speaking on behalf of the team, a Pokhara Ninjas Head of Operations Vikash Khetan said: The team is already in preparation mode and is expected to announce its Marquee Player, Coaching Team, and Goodwill Ambassador in the days leading up to the league’s first-ever player auction, scheduled for July 18.
“This announcement reflects the commitment of Gandaki’s volleyball community and the growing professional spirit around the sport. Pokhara Ninjas stands for preparation, pride, and the opportunity to compete at the highest level.”
The EWVL received overwhelming national and international attention during its inaugural edition held in Kathmandu last year. With six teams now participating, the league is emerging as a vital platform for Nepal’s female volleyball athletes to gain competitive exposure in a structured professional environment. It continues to show strong promise for the long-term sustainability of women’s volleyball in the country.
