Pokhara Sports / Pokhara Ninjas have suffered a setback ahead of the second edition of the Everest Women’s Volleyball League (EWVL), as their recently signed Serbian player, Kekman, has unexpectedly returned to her home country due to a family emergency.
The 31-year-old outside hitter, who had joined the team just days ago, had to leave Nepal after her mother suffered a heart attack.
Pokhara Ninjas confirmed her departure and expressed their support during this difficult time.
“We are deeply saddened to hear about her mother’s health condition,” the team said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with Kekman and her family. We wish her mother a swift and full recovery and extend our full support to Kekman during this challenging period.”
Organized by Infinity Dreams, the second edition of the EWVL is set to take place in Pokhara from Bhadra 20 to 28 (September 5 to 13). Pokhara Ninjas will now have to adjust their squad in Kekman’s absence as they prepare for the tournament.
