Everest Women’s Volleyball League : Drives Women’s-Rise in Sports!

Pokhara Sports / Nepal’s first women’s franchise volleyball league, the ‘Vatsalya Everest Women’s Volleyball League’ (EWVL), is emerging as a strong foundation for women’s empowerment and employment promotion in Nepali sports.

Organized by Infinity Dreams Pvt. Ltd., the league garnered significant attention from its very first season and is now preparing for its second edition. “The Everest Volleyball League is not just a competition; it is a powerful platform that promotes women’s participation in sports while creating employment for over 100 women,” says EWVL’s Executive Director Snevy Chapagain. “It’s a model of excellent management -gaining recognition not just in Nepal but internationally as a women-friendly sports initiative.”

In its first edition, the league provided employment to 72 female athletes, 15 women in managerial roles, 10 in media, and 5 in technical departments. According to Chapagain, these numbers are expected to increase in the 2nd edition.

Through this league, Chapagain herself became Nepal’s first and youngest female sports league CEO. Likewise, Subeksha Khadka made history by becoming Nepal’s first-ever female auctioneer. She conducted the nation’s first women’s volleyball auction held by EWVL on July 18, successfully establishing her presence in the sports arena.

EWVL is actively challenging the traditionally male-dominated structure of sports management by encouraging women’s participation in leadership, technical, media, broadcasting, digital, logistics, and team operations. “Our slogan ‘Now It’s #AbaPaloMahilako reflects the league’s core mission,” says Chapagain. “At a time when women’s presence in sports leadership is limited, EWVL is paving the way toward inclusivity and equal opportunity.”

Bringing notable transformation in Nepal’s sports landscape, EWVL is now being recognized internationally as a model of women-centric sports innovation. As the league continues to expand its reach and impact, it is expected to open new doors for thousands of young women across Nepal and South Asia-fostering a brighter, more inclusive future in sports.
