
Pokhara Sports/ First time ever a workshop on sports and meditation was held in Pokhara on Sunday.
The program was organized by ‘sri chinmoy oneness home peace run Nepal’, coordinated by the Nepal Ex-sportsmen Forum and in cooperation with the Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Pradip Hoogaker, the trailblazer of Master Mr. Chinmoi and runner of 3100 miles, said that focusing on sports will be important. He said – “Meditation is essential for a successful human life. The same for sports. Meditation is the only thing from which one gets the height of life and happiness along with victory.”
Reflecting based on his own experience that how he was able to complete a difficult race like 3100 miles in time due to meditation and ‘sadhana’, Hoogaker, who is also a Dutch citizen, said – “Victory in sports cannot be achieved only by the strength within oneself. For this, meditation plays a vital role in bringing out the inherent potential. He who meditates is sure of victory.” He said that meditation is also needed for creative composition and totality.
Prof. Dr. Ganeshman Gurung, Chancellor of Gandaki University, said in the program that meditation focuses on sports and is important in the current perspective. He mentioned that this type of program is equally indispensable for making life beautiful and establishing peace in the world.
In the program presided over by Hari Prasad Parajuli, President of Nepal Ex-sportsmen Forum, Tej Bahadur Gurung, former President of the Forum, Sweta Pradhan, Coordinator of ‘Sri Chinmoy oneness home peace run’ Nepal, Krishna Timilsina, General Secretary of the Forum, and others gave their speeches.
At this workshop, the acting mayor of Pokhara Metropolitan Municipality, Motiraj Timsina, representatives of Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry, heads of various religious centers, Pabson, Hisan, Npabson, Unips Kaski, students of various schools, former athletes, players, coaches and representatives of various organizations including 150 people were present.
